Syd (Radha Mitchell), a low -level editor in Photography magazine that desires to establish, finds that her neighbor is once a celebrated photographer Lucy Berliner (Ally Sheedy). Although Syd lives with his friend (Gabriel Mann), Lucy, who has a volatile relationship with his girlfriend addicted to the heroin Greta (Patricia Clarkson), is attracted.
